Is the connector license needed to export a report on Sage Accpac Intelligence?

Please clarify if a connector license is needed when reports are developed off-site using Sage Accpac Intelligence ie is it possible to export from the off-site connector & import to the Client Report Manager?

Sage Accpac Intelligence (SAI) supports the ability to create a report/s in one system (say for example on your business partners installation of SAI), and export this report as an .al_ file, email to one of your customers, and they can then import this into their SAI installation.

The single FREE Report manager that ships with Accpac 5.6 does not allow reports to be imported and so in order for your customer to be able to benefit from the IP or reports that you have created for them, they will need to purchase either an additional report manager license or a connector module, for the import report functionality to be enabled.
Ok.. but if the customer just bought an additionnal report manager license, and as a business partner we build a report with new or modify connectors, exporting it in an .al format and importing it on customer SAI installation, would that work ? In other words, would the new or modify Connector will be imported too ? If not, then correct me if i'm wrong, but it will not work unless we use the exact same connector as the customer ?

Hi Harold

The Connectors are all the same. I believe it is the container you are referring too? If you create a new report for the Customer and have modified the Container. They will be able to import this report, if they have purchased another report manager in addition to the free report manager.

Hope that clears it up.

Ruth

I think there may be some confusion here.

If a partner creates a report for a customer that does not have the connector, that report must have containers that pull from the MAS database auto-connection i.e. the partner cannot expect a report created off Sage CRM and imported on the the MAS database auto-connection to work.

However, all reports created by the partner off the MAS database (any table and any field) can be imported into the customer Sage Intelligence installation.

Hope that clears things up.

On my computer using SAI V6.0 I have created a new container AROBL under the ODBC Driver SQL Server Sage Accpac (Auto Connect) Connector. I then created a report using the AROBL container and exported it.

The client has a connector license and the free report manager license on V5.6.

A few questions:

  1. When I tried to import I got an error message - Multiple-step operation generated errors Check each status value. Must I create the container on the client's SAI connector before I import?
  2. I tried creating the container but the result was the same. Can I import SAI V6 export into SAI V5.6?
  3. Is there a checklist/procedure to follow for report export and import?
