Options For Creating Departmental Income Statements

Currently the department field is pulled through into the raw data sheet in Excel for the Financial Analysis, Income Statement and Balance Sheet report templates.
By default the financial statements will generate layouts for all departments.
There seem to be a series of different requirements for generating departmental Income Statements.
Here are some of the options…
1. Edit the query in the template to accept a department as a parameter, in which case you will be able to select a specific department and have only that department’s details generated.
2. There is a “lookup sheet” in the templates that control how data is grouped and subtotalled when it is generated. If you change the reference of one of these columns, you can change the grouping of accounts from the default (which is General Ledger Categories) to departments. When you then generate the layouts you want, the accounts will be grouped by departments. Please note that this will not group departments across the top of your report.
3. The third option would be to type in the department names as headers in the columns, and then lookup the values sitting the “lookup” sheet of the template. Remember that once these links are setup, you can create and link the template so that this setup does not need to be repeated on subsequent runs of the report.
There is no need to use pivot tables in Excel whilst trying to create these types of layouts.
The best option of all would be to use the Report Designer that is shipped with MAS90/200 and MAS500. This gives ultimate flexibility and automation for departmental type reporting challenges. Unfortunately this is not available with this release of Simply Accounting Intelligence.
There is some detail in the above solutions which I will formulate and post accordingly for all.

I am having a really hard time separting income statements for every department. I am doing it for a hotel and I cant seem to get each income statement indivdually as per GL numbers it keeps spitting out gl departments which i dont want as well.
