Look at the configuration of your ODBC connections that are used within the container. Perhaps they are causing the bottleneck. Are they the same ones used by Crystal?
Are your views running efficiently? ie not cumbersome and slow?
Do your individual reports (ie on a single company) run as slowly, or are they fast?
Do you get different speeds from different workstations?
Without more information, this is where I would start looking...

What should I check on the ODBC? This are created by SAI/Accpac.
Just tested the Statments (normal links) on the largest database, it takes 7 seconds, all other 6 databases take less than 1 second each.
I don't think the problems is in the ODCB. The bottle neck is in the Excel populating, therefore creating an overhead that Crystal does not have...
Permalink Reply by Allan Smallie on January 11, 2012 at 12:12pm You are correct in that ALX does have an increased overhead due to the process of retrieving the data. This said, I've never had an issue with this before, as the added functionality provided is significantly more important that a longer generation time.
Permalink Reply by Jaime Schmulson on January 11, 2012 at 3:59pm Thanks... I understand the power after the data is there, but the overhead has to be overcome with more powerful PCs. In the meantime, the users has to wait.
I ran a timing comparison after noticing the speed issue. Most of the times, 80%, the report is ran for one pay period, this is very manageable, less than a minute. Unfortunately, the quarter takes LOOONG time. I don’t want to think about a full year, that will be an hour or more compared to 1 or 2 minute from Crystal.
I wonder if performance can improved if Alchemic turns off all calculations while feeding Excel? If this can be done (or if it does it automatically when there are no Excel Formula Expressions), I can change the very few Excel formulas to SQL.

I think, even that Alchemex turned off all calculations, when you refresh the formula in Excel, it will still take time for populate/update the file.
It is always quicker to have the work done in database level, ie, either base your report on SQL views or You could make use of SQL expression in alchemex.
