Can anyone help me with the use of system variable in the reports. What we are trying to do is have the filter automatically filter the previous day and the previous month so that we can have automatically generated reports emailed out.

Unfortunately you can't do an @DATE@-1 to get the previous days date, and you can't do it @MONTHNAME@ either. As both these resolve as text strings in the system. For example @DATE@ will filter 2 December 2011.

I have attached further information for you on System variables which may assist with other ideas.

Ruth, I explored the option of defining custom variables but this will not work as I would need the definition to be script logic. Is it possible to define a new system variable in the same way that alchemex does and have it contain the script logic? See the explanation below

Note that the set of available System Variables defined can be extended by adding Custom System Variables to the Alchemex.ini file under the section [GlobalSysVars]. These Custom System Variables are hard-coded values in the Alchemex.ini file and cannot contain script logic.

Ruth, thank you for your help. I have also explored the option of adding a Custom System variable in the Alchemex.ini file but unfortunately this does not help us. ( please see below )

What I am asking is, can we add a custom variable in the .ini file where the regular system variables are located that would allow me to script to get the date previous?

As per the explanation above the System variables are hard coded so you can not create dymanic system variables such as previous day.

I have had the same problem and my adding the WHERE clause in my container source you can add the filter without working with the variables...
